Beckman Coulter/m2p-Labs RoboLector XL Automated Fermentation with BioLector Pro

We have a pre-owned Beckman Coulter/m2p-Labs RoboLector XL Automated Fermentation 8-Channel Liquid Handling system (G-RL-800) with a BioLector Pro (G-BLMF100) Microfluidic Bioprocess Control System. The BioLector Pro system includes an O₂ Enrichment Module (E-O2-100), Low pH LED-Module (E-OP-424), Lenovo laptop with software, as well as the valve control unit. The RoboLector XL is an 8-channel liquid handling system.

RoboLector XL Automated Fermentation is a proprietary combination of a liquid handling robot with a BioLector Pro. This unique automated fermentation platform integrates the high-throughput fermentation and online monitoring capability of the BioLector Pro with the precise liquid handling of a robotic system. Automated fermentations with the RoboLector allow highly elaborate experimental design. The platform autonomously prepares media compositions, e. g. from pre-programmed design of experiment (DoE) templates. Online fermentation monitoring for each individual well facilitates timely addition of inducers, feed solutions and pH value adjustment to maintain favorable fermentation conditions. Automated sampling into various targets, including a cooling station, ensures optimal process monitoring and control. Sampling is processed without disturbing the shaking of the culture broth by the BioLector Pro, which prevents temporary states of insufficient gas transfer.

BioLector Pro is the advanced microbioreactor system combining the established BioLector technology with an innovative microfluidic chip. The system is based on a standard microtiter plate format and operates with non-invasive, optical sensors. The disposable 48 well microtiter plate of the BioLector® Pro features online measurements of biomass, fluorescence, pH and DO and simultaneously controls the pH and feeding rates through microvalves and microfluidic-channels. This unique microfluidic plate allows continuous feeding and pH control in standard MTP formats. There is no tubing and no liquid handling needed anymore; everything is part of the gamma radiated ready-to-use plate!
