The Agilent 7890A GC system with FID is a gas chromatography (GC) system. Flame Ionization Detector (FID) provides high sensitivity for organic compounds. The system is built on an architecture that integrates digital electronics with fifth-generation electronic pneumatics control (EPC). This design provides a foundation for high-precision analytical measurements, specifically setting a benchmark for pressure set point precision at 0.001 psi.
The system’s fifth-generation EPC and digital electronics are engineered to maintain constant setpoints across multiple runs, which is critical for retention time repeatability. This precision supports Retention Time Locking (RTL) software, allowing users to reproduce exact retention times—within hundredths or thousandths of a minute—across different 7890A systems regardless of the operator, inlet, or detector used.

The Agilent 7697A is a headspace sampler utilizing a valve-and-loop mechanism with integrated Electronic Pneumatics Control (EPC), built on the same architecture as the 7890 GC and 7693A ALS. This unit is the high-capacity 111-vial tray version, which supports 10 mL, 20 mL, and 22 mL vials without the need for adapters. Operational flexibility is provided through several extraction modes, including standard single extraction and Multiple Headspace Extraction (MHE), which performs up to 100 extractions per vial for complex matrices.
